New! Suzuki Cello Camp!

The Southeast Missouri Music Academy's Beginning Suzuki Cello Camp will provide a great introduction to the cello for young children, ages 5 to 8. The cello, with its lovely tone and comfortable seating position, is an ideal instrument for young children. This camp is intended for children who are beginners on the cello, or for any young cellists with approximately one year or less of private instruction.

One parent or adult guardian will be required to attend each class meeting.

DATES: June 24 - June 28, Daily

TIMES: 10:45 am - 12 noon, Daily

COST: $75 per child

DEADLINE TO ENROLL: May 31, 2013

EQUIPMENT: Each student will be required to have an appropriately-sized cello (1/8, 1/4, or 1/2 size) for the camp. Please contact Dr. Sara Edgerton for cello rental information at sedgerton@semo.edu; 573-651-2140.

Sample Daily Schedule:

10:45 am: Greetings, tuning, care of the instrument

11:00 am: Beginning posture, bow hold, left hand

11:15 am: Fun pieces with the cello!

11:30 am: Review, Duets, Solos

11:45 am: Ear training, note reading
